Departing IG targets City Council Office of Financial Analysis

Last year, renegade Council members rejected Mayor Brandon Johnson’s budget and approved their own over Johnson’s objections. Still, departing Inspector General Deborah Witzburg said the rebels’ position would have been even stronger if only the Council’s Office of Financial Analysis had been properly equipped “to do what it’s supposed to do” — provide “objective, independent financial analysis.”
