CTA halts service for Red, Yellow, Purple line trains on North Side due to track conditions

CHICAGO (WLS) — The CTA halted service for multiple train lines Thursday evening on the city’s North Side after a CTA Yellow Line train derailed, officials said.

CTA Red, Yellow and Purple line trains were affected near the Howard Street station in Rogers Park, the CTA said.

Chopper 7 was over the scene, where a CTA train appeared to be derailed.

Passengers could be seen being evacuated from two train cars that appeared to be shifted off of the tracks.
