Red Sox fire manager Alex Cora after 10-17 start

BALTIMORE — Red Sox manager Alex Cora and six of his coaches were fired on Saturday night, only hours after a 17-1 victory against the Orioles.

Cora was let go in his eighth season on the job. It was the first in-season managerial change under the Fenway Sports Group since it purchased the team in 2002.

Triple-A manager Chad Tracy was named interim manager.

Bench coach Ramón Vázquez, hitting coach Pete Fatse, third-base coach Kyle Hudson, and assistant hitting coach Dillon Lawson were also fired, along with hitting strategist Joe Cronin.
