Trump invites teen lifeguard to White House after rescuing boy from massive Santa Cruz waves

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — A 16-year-old lifeguard who rescued a boy from massive waves Saturday at a Santa Cruz beach has been invited to the White House.

President Donald Trump posted to X Tuesday that he would bring the teen and his family to the White House and give him a “High Civilian Honor.”

The rescue at Seabright State Beach near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk was captured on video by witness Scott Vander Dussen, who said he watched a lifeguard rush into the water to help the boy.
