Missing man on Isle Royale found alive and alert

UPPER MICHIGAN, Mich. (WLUC) – A missing hiker on Isle Royale was found alive on Saturday.

According to the Isle Royale National Park Facebook page, Craig Berg is alive and alert after being found by backpackers. The post states the 70-year-old downstate man was missing since Sept. 5. The National Park Service thanks the employees and partners who helped during the search.

His family initially made a report that the hiker didn’t return home as planned. Craig’s son, Evan Berg, says he was ecstatic during a phone interview with TV6 Saturday evening.

“He was in rough shape, but he’s okay,” Evan said.
